ICS Awards and Scholarships

| The Italian Cultural Society sponsors an annual competition for the following awards made possible through donations and fund raising events. The deadline for the receipt of application materials is Saturday, the 22th of May, 2009. Please also note the age limits below. For most cases, applicants must be no more than 25 years of age as of May 22, 2010. Prizes will be awarded at the ICS Gala Dinner, Saturday, June 12, 2010, 4:30pm. | ![]() |

Applications are being sought for the following Awards: Except for the Palumbo award, applicants should be no more than 25 years of age as of Saturday, May 22th, 2010, the post-marked date for receipt of applications. 1) The Elena and Antonio De Luca Award of $1000, to be given to a young person who has excelled in the study of Latin and/or Greek. 2) The Fred La Marca Award of $1000, to be given to a young person who has excelled in studies of the Humanities. 3) The Candida Pitassi Di Croce Italian Language Award
of $1000, to be given to a scholar who has excelled in learning the
Italian Language and shows promise of continued commitment to excel in
the language and culture of Italy. 4) The Vincenzo Palumbo Artisan Award of
$1000, to be given to an artisan who has excelled in working with
stone, wood, natural and synthetic fibers and other relevant
media. There age restriction does not apply to this award. 5) The Ruggiero Morigi Artist Award of $1000, to be given to a scholar who has excelled in the Arts. Written reviews, recordings and/opr photographs, etc. of your work must be submitted to the Awards Committee. 6) The Young Scientist Award of $1,000, to be given to a young person (not older than 25 years by May 22th, 2010), who has excelled in the Sciences.7) The Pietro Antonio Donna Italian Scholarship of $600 for a high school student who has excelled in the study of Italian. Materials to be included in the application are:
1. College transcripts when appropriate and High School transcripts
for no. 7 (These are not required for award no. 4. That person should submit photographs or other evidence of their work.) Application materials postmarked no later than

Selection will occur during the last week of May and awards will be presented at the ICS gala dinner, which will take place at 4:30 pm, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Friendship Heights Community Center as will be advertised in our newsletter Poche Parole. Attendance at the dinner is required and awards will be reassigned if the winner is unable to attend, except for exceptional circumstances as determined by the Awards Committee.

Every year the Italian Cultural Society awards scholarships to students who have excelled in the study of Italian language and culture in Colleges and Universities of the Washington metropolitan area. Dr.
