Ronald Cappelletti joined the ICS board in 2005 and served as ICS president from 2009 to 2013. He is a physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an emeritus professor of physics at Ohio University. Cappelletti first learned Italian during a two-month trip to Italy as an 11 year-old, but only began studying the language after moving to the DC area in 1999. He began his relationship with the ICS by taking courses in the Italian Language Program starting in 2003. He currently serves as Acting Director of the Program. Outside of work and his ICS duties, Cappelletti sings with the National Philharmonic Chorale at Strathmore, is an amateur musician, and enjoys spending time with his son Giovanni, daughter Eva Cappelletti-Chao and her family, which includes two lively grandchildren, and with other family members in the area.
