Riccardo Cannavo` was born and grew up in Sicily. He attended Catania University and graduated in Law and Public Administration. He then went on to the University of Rome to specialize in Information Technology Law. In 2010, Mr. Cannavo` and his wife, Sabrina Munao`, who teaches in the Italian Language Program of the ICS, relocated to the United States and in February of 2011 Mr Cannavo` began working with the State Department as an Italian Language and Culture teacher. His focus at the State Department centers not only around language but also on how the legal and administrative functions within the Italian government work. When not at work, Mr. Cannavo` enjoys expanding his knowledge on historical matters, reading, photography and martial arts. Mr. Cannavo` was elected to the board of directors in April 2012, when he also started actively contributing to the Italian Cultural Society’s newsletter Poche Parole, as a freelance writer. In 2013 Mr. Cannavo` was promoted to becoming this publication’s editor.
