“The ICS is the source for not only learning to speak the Italian language, but also for discovering Italy in its history, arts, and culture. Under the new leadership of Francesca Casazza, the Italian Language Program has had an innovative transformation with an approach to learning the Italian language that is both inviting and educational.”
As a novice student having taken Francesca’s classes, I have learned tremendously and gained an affability to pursue the Italian language to its fluency. Francesca’s style of teaching is a model for language teachers alike, as she incorporates a scholastic way of teaching that is fun for anyone learning a language, while allowing the student to feel confident in his/her ability to learn (even when I make many mistakes speaking).
If you want to learn Italian, come to the Italian Cultural Society of DC.” – Adhafera R., 9/11/2014
“I took an elementary italian class with Cristiana Fabiani and it was excellent. The class consisted of a diverse group of adults and we had a fun and educational experience learning italian. Cristiana did an excellent job of teaching. I highly recommend the Italian Language Program and I am taking the follow-on class”. – Richard S., 12/8/2014
“Just completed Beginners Italian with the Italian Cultural Society on Rugby Ave in Bethesda. Great experience, small class (5), excellent teacher, very valuable. I’m quite impressed with what I’ve learned already. Recommend the Society highly — for Italian language, art, current events, cooking, food/wine pairings. Intimate atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, great teachers, lots of fun. Even parking is easy!” – Linda Schmitt, 2/19/2015
“Dear Francesca, I just wanted to write to you to tell you what a wonderful experience it was to take the Elementary 1 Italian Class this fall with Carlo. It was an exceptional group of students and Carlo was an exceptional teacher. He made us work very hard, both with grammar work, writing and oral presentations and he also was extremely interesting and informative in discussing a variety of topics on Italian history and culture. As a former language teacher, I can say that Carlo’s presentation of the grammar concepts was very clear and helpful and he was able to engage the whole class not just with the grammar but other topics as well. I think I speak for everyone in the class in hopingthat Carlo will be the teacher of the second half of the class in January. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and I look forward to being back at the ICS in January. All the best,”– Joe Peacock, 11/30/2015
