Discover Roma and Lazio.
The course: In our Bethesda location, you will enjoy classes of history, geography, art and archeology of Rome and its region. Starting from the Etruscan civilization and the origin of the “eternal city”, you will learn about medieval Rome and Lazio, the origin of papacy, Rome and its monuments of the Renaissance, of the 17th and 18th centuries. The course will be in Italian and in English. No grammar will be covered. A discovery of the traditional Roman food, with the possibility of learning the recipe and taste it is also included.

Cost: $320 ($300 Members) for the 20 hours course. Mini courses can also be organized. Drop-in $45. Material provided by the Instructor.
The trip: After the course, you will have clearer ideas on what you want to visit in Rome (or the Etruscan region). Do not hesitate to contact us for recommendations on accommodations or other suggestions. Afterwards, our selected choice is a wonderful agriturismo south of Rome, La Locanda del Ruspante, in the “Ciociara” countryside, once a land situated between the Papal State and the Kingdom of Naples. There, one can relax far from the thousands of tourists in Rome, and discover different historical places nearby, while resting, eating well, attending cooking classes and more. Surrounded by the warm hospitality of Annalisa, Pasqualino e Antonella you will learn about local traditions and customs. First lesson(ICS, Bethesda): Introduction to Lazio: its general geography and its most interesting areas and cities. The Etruscan Civilization and Cerveteri. The origins of Rome in the myth and in the reality.
In Lazio: Visit Cerveteri or Tarquinia, north of Rome.
Second lesson (ICS, Bethesda): Roma Caput Mundi (Rome head of the world). Short summary of Roman History. All roads lead to Rome: the importance of the Roman roads and their beauty, the ancient Via Appia. The master engineers: the Aurelian walls and the aqueducts.
In Rome: Visit the Museo of Roman Civilization, The Museum of the Walls and a beautiful walk in the Appia Antica’s Regional Park.
