Join or Renew your ICS membership
Apart from the Italian Language Program which generates tuition to support its activities, membership fees are the source of the Italian Cultural Society’s revenue for the daily operations of the Society, and donations and fundraising activities the main source for the Society’s Award and Scholarship funds. Board Members serve without remuneration for their board activities.
You may join or renew your membership either by filling out, printing, and mailing a membership form by clicking on the icon below
or by using your credit card to join or renew membership online by clicking on the icon below. If you are renewing and have forgotten your username and password, just click on “Forgot your password?” when you get to the registration page. You will be sent an email containing your username and a password. If you are registering as a new member you will have to establish an account by following instructions.
Membership is open to anyone who shares an interest in Italian culture. There is no need to be Italian or of Italian heritage to become a member and enjoy the Society’s benefits.
Membership benefits are:
1 – Free attendance to monthly meetings
The monthly meeting takes place at the Friendship Heights Village Center in two rooms and a spacious hall. At 1:00 pm there is a viewing of an Italian film (with subtitles). At 2:00 pm an Italian conversation hour is led by a native instructor. At 3:00 pm there is a viewing of an Italian film for kids, while in the main hall lectures and presentations based on Italian art, archeology, music, history, science, education, literature and tourism are given by experts in the field. Following the presentation, members are offered Italian refreshments and have the opportunity to socialize and brush up on their Italian. Family Membership will allow you to come with your children!
2 – Access to a rich Italian library, including DVD
3 – Discount on Italian Courses
Members registering for any of the Italian courses offered by the Italian Language Program sponsored by the Italian Cultural Society receive a $20 discount on the standard courses.
4 – Attendance to Society’s activities
In addition, members may attend the annual Festa di Carnevale, the annual Festa di Natale, and occasional field trips such as to local vineyards, museums or special Italian-themed events.
5 – A monthly newsletter
All members automatically receive each month the Society’s newsletter “Poche Parole”, with the subject of the upcoming meeting presentation, updates on Society’s matters, a report from the Language Program, and many interesting and informative articles both in Italian and in English.
